Jeff Burson - SYNTHscape radio program
Candy's vocals are wonderful on this fantastic tribute to The Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan. A pleasure to listen to!
Cover performed and produced by Tenderlash.
Song originally by The Cranberries and released September 19 1994
Cranberries frontwoman Dolores O'Riordan wrote "Zombie" in response to the Warrington bombing in Cheshire, England on March 20, 1993, in which two children were killed. It's a protest song against war and violence. We lost Dolores in 2018 rather suddenly and tragically. This cover is a tribute to her legacy and the children for whom she intended it, and is dedicated to our friends in Ukraine.
lyrics
Another head hangs lowly
Child is slowly taken
And the violence, caused such silence
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me
It's not my family
In your head, in your head, they are fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head they are crying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie
Another mother's breaking
Heart is taking over
When the violence causes silence
We must be mistaken
It's the same old theme
Since nineteen-sixteen
In your head, in your head, they're still fighting
With their tanks, and their bombs
And their bombs, and their guns
In your head, in your head, they are dying
In your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie
What's in your head, in your head
Zombie, zombie

It's uncanny just how good Actors is at emulating that Post-Punk synth sound from my younger days.
Each listen just gets better and better. I feel slightly ashamed for not having heard this album until a few short days ago. modestwriggles
